About Us
a unique “traveling” culinary event stretching across ka pae `āina o Hawai`i
The Surfrider Foundation is an environmental non-profit dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's ocean, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network. There are over 80 chapters and 100 youth clubs in the U.S. and Canada, and the Hawaiʻi Chapters are some of the most active and successful.
Sufrider’s five Hawaiʻi chapters have helped pass landmark legislative victories like banning plastic bags & oxybenzone in sunscreens and creating smoke-free beaches and parks (just to name a few). They have created successful programs to monitor and protect clean water and reduce plastic pollution. Surfrider's Hawaii's Chapters have hundreds of dedicated volunteers who contribute to our success. In addition to these activities, Surfrider also hosts beach cleanups nearly every month on every major island to raise awareness about plastic pollution.
One of Surfrider's flagship programs is Ocean Friendly Restaurants, which celebrates and certifies hundreds of local restaurants that go the extra mile to reduce plastic and adopt ocean friendly practices.
The Ocean Friendly Gardens program also allows the community to work together to slow the impact of stormwater and increase local food security, one beautiful garden at a time.
